Different DIY Bench Instructions, wooden palettes from the uni for potential bench-making, 'The Park Bench' story book, Seasonal Almanacs, Monty Don!...

https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/free-bench-plans-1357108 Trying to think practically... Where to get tools? Wood? Safety? The design followed. https://doleenoted.blogspot.com/2015/11/diy-pallet-bench.html ^Super clear and easy to follow bench made out of one palette! Try and get the volunteers at the gardening group on board tomorrow! Reading 'The Park Bench' by Edward, C. and Bugun, A...a children's book with painted illustrations about the kindness of a bench in a community made of 'sympathetic wood' and 'friendly iron', where it listened to stories and heard it's visitors and supported them through hard times, I was reminded of the concept that nature has ears. The land and the stories and nature listens to us/we listen to nature...a bench made of wood from the trees and amongst nature. A chance to reflect and listen to surrounding sounds, or perhaps another. The story message is all about treating people/things how you'd like to be treated, and giving back...much like we give back to the land and thank nature, as well as each other. This kind of represents the project and community arts in general. The bench is a place of many uses, to gather thoughts. Jo reminded me of a seasonal Almanac 2024 to help me identify plants, research on natural cycles/ of the moon and sun / interesting times of day in May / what planet is in opposition, comet etc... to align sounds with this and times of recording and research. I also want to remind myself about the PLANTS, TREES IN THE PARK to respond in a way like Treephonia. I also remembered the name of the gardener the two men liked: Monty Don! I aim to research him to understand why he resonated and connects with them, to learn, and to bring up in conversation. Reminder about idea for webcam: alert people to this/when on/time of day...so they are aware and won't be in shot if not wanted.

Hi Connie

This sounds great, we do have some basic tools but wouldn’t be able to use an electric saw as we don’t have the relevant insurance to use this kind of power tool with volunteers. We should be ok using a handsaw and an electric drill though, although again we don’t have access to these.

Have a talk with the guys and see if they can come up with a solution for you.

Talk soon
