'The Secret Garden', Frances Hodgson Burnett, 1911 (Book), Film by Agnieszka Holland, 1993

Childhood memories with always stay with me of the impact the book and the film had on me. I want to take inspiration from this to inspire how I go about the project. Make it like a secret garden...bring the nature to those who have never taken a moment to pause and appreciate.

Update: I watched it this very evening. I was struck by just how well I knew the ins and outs of this film. I must have watched it so many times as a child, I knew the music, the facial expressions, each scene and each element of the natural world. It felt so nostalgic. It was also so beautifully filmed; time lapses of growing plants, the landscape, the slowness of each person's interaction with the world. The soundtrack!! By Zbigniew Preisner is beautiful...reflective of nature and the world, so peaceful. I found myself dreaming of gardening and a state of inner peace...connected not only to nature but to my childhood self. This is also something I experience when walking and gardening outside. I want to try and embody this in the work I do throughout the trail.
